I hired Aborn solar to fix a string of panels that were disconnected. Here's the bill I recieved! $8,500! Greg Aborn replaced 31 perfectly good Optimizers. Optimzers that were under warranty if they were bad. They weren't.
The SCAM: in Greg's words, the email he sent me after I called him out on his lies.
I am an honest and upfront person and I do not enjoy thinking this is how you feel after doing business with me. I will do my best to explain some of your system issues in better detail with the hopes we can resolve this.
When we first met on site I explained clearly the status of your system, everything except one optimizer was working as it should. After you walked me through the service history of the system, and I evaluated the condition of the system, I suggested either cleaning out the tremendous debris from under the panels or replacing the optimizers with a current compliant version at the same time as cleaning out from under the panels. I also clearly stated there would be no guarantee the new optimizers would resolve any loss of production. You chose to replace the optimizers at the same time the debris was removed.
SolarEdge is correct in that the optimizers are covered under warranty for 25 years, however the conditions where they were located voided all warranties due to environmental conditions. I have attached a few SolarEdge documents to help clarify the implications of the site conditions and impact on warranty. They can't have connectors buried under 6 years of debris or be encased in the same debis prohibiting ventilation. The discoloring I showed you was clear evidence they were compromised with one of the units having already failed completely. I have even noted on your site the voltage problems the old optimizers were having, clearly indicating they were not operating properly, as well as the new optimizers showing perfect operation within the new parameters. The optimizers also cost me over $3k alone. With labor, racking replacements and other BOS components, this was not a cheap job for me.
I can reach out to SolarEdge and provide the details and photos of your system and get their direct official response, but I would rather not have anything in their notes that would allow them to attempt to void any future warranty claims.
Hopefully after reviewing the timeline and discussions we had, as well as the attached documentation, we can put this behind us and move forward.

The alleged leaves and pine needles that cause the optimizers to over heat and fail. Notice all the airspace? We're in MA, climate zone 5A:Cold/Humid according to IECC2021. photo by Greg Aborn

If you think someone who's only trying to fleece you for as much as possible, is going to do quality work, think again. This bracket, pictured on the left, blew off my roof shortly after Greg and Tyler left. Now I have to hire someone competent and honest to inspect and repair my entire array of panels.
